Four people shot outside restaurant in Hayward

HAYWARD — Four people were expected to survive after being shot in a parking lot outside a restaurant Saturday night, police said.

The gunfire erupted about 10:50 p.m. outside The Grill by Miss G in the 21900 block of Foothill Boulevard, according to a statement from police spokesperson Officer Jessica Banuelos. When officers arrived, three victims were down in the parking lot with gunshot wounds, police said. Medics rushed them to a hospital in an ambulance.

The fourth victim got to a hospital without an ambulance.

Police said all four were in stable condition and expected to make a complete recovery.

“We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred outside our restaurant,” The Grill by Miss G posted on social media. “Our thoughts are with those affected and their families, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement. Our restaurant has always been a welcoming space for everyone, celebrating the rich tapestry of Filipino culture while embracing the diversity of our broader community. This is an isolated incident, and we have never experienced anything like this in our many years of operation.”

The shooter or shooters got away, and detectives probed the case through the weekend and into Monday. Police said they were reviewing leads. Detectives were exploring the events that led up to the shooting but did not say what they think caused the it.

The restaurant said “the safety of our guests and community is our top priority” and added it will be “taking steps to enhance security,”
