A former football player for Colorado State University was arrested Tuesday morning in Fort Collins and charged with sexual assault, according to court records.
Aaron Moore, a 23-year-old man from Oakland, Tennessee, signed with CSU’s football team as a three-star linebacker in 2020.
Moore played in all four of CSU’s games during the 2020 season, shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic, but three season-ending injuries in the following years pulled the plug on his football career, according to his player portal. He then joined the coaching staff as a defense graduate assistant, per the roster.
Moore turned himself in at Larimer County Jail at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday after a felony warrant was issued for his arrest earlier this month, according to a news release from the police department. A copy of the arrest warrant was not immediately available.
The 23-year-old faces two felony sexual assault charges stemming from an April 27, 2023, incident, court records show.
Police said in the release that a woman reported Moore in May, claiming that he had sexually assaulted her while she was incapacitated after drinking with a group of friends in downtown Fort Collins. She told investigators that she shared a ride with Moore to his home, where he later assaulted her.
Moore was a student and athlete at CSU at the time of the assault, police said.
The 23-year-old is being held on a $5,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 25.
Investigators are concerned there may be more victims, according to the police department. Anyone with information about Moore or any other incidents is asked to contact detectives at dblake@fcgov.com or Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.
