Former Cowboys All-Pro Arrested on Domestic Battery Charges

Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marcellus Wiley is coming away from the July 4 holiday weekend dealing with serious legal issues.

According to a report from TMZ Sports, Wiley was arrested for domestic battery on July 4 and booked into Orange County Jail.

Wiley, 51, played 10 seasons in the NFL from 1997 to 2006, including 1 season with the Cowboys in 2004. He earned NFL All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors with the San Diego Chargers in 2001.

From TMZ: “The 51-year-old remained listed in the jail system following the arrest. According to custody records, he is being held without bond. Details surrounding the alleged incident that led to the charge and who was involved were not immediately available … Following his retirement from football, Wiley transitioned into broadcasting, becoming a familiar face on sports television with stops at ESPN and Fox Sports, where he co-hosted several debate shows.”

Wiley was a 2nd-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 1997 NFL draft after earning All-Ivy League and Division I-AA (now FCS) All-American honors at Columbia. He played for the Bills, Chargers, Cowboys, and Jaguars in his career, finishing with 44.0 career sacks, including a career-high 13.0 sacks for the Chargers in 2001 — the 2nd consecutive season for Wiley with double-digit sacks.

Multiple Sexual Assault Allegations Against Wiley

The domestic battery arrest is just the latest scandal in Wiley’s personal life in 2026.

In May, Awful Announcing reported that Wiley had been accused of sexual assault by 4 different accusers, including a former ESPN production assistant.

“The new allegations were filed in court last month and recently obtained by Awful Announcing,” Awful Announcing’s Drew Lerner wrote on May 4. “The four new accusers join three other women who previously sued Wiley, the first of whom came forward in 2023, alleging that he raped them while he was a football player at Columbia University in 1994. Wiley responded to the initial suit on his YouTube show, calling the claims “B.S.” A 2024 court filing by Wiley’s then-lawyer also denied the allegations … Among the four new accusers is a former ESPN production assistant who alleges Wiley initiated a scheme that led the alleged victim to Wiley’s hotel room under the guise of a work meeting while the two were coworkers in 2009.”

Another of the assaults allegedly occurred during Wiley’s time with the Cowboys, when a female who said Wiley began grooming her at 13 years old, while he was with the Bills, and raped her on a trip to Dallas on her 18th birthday.

The latest allegations come after 3 others accused Wiley of sexual assault in 2023.

Wiley is married to reality television star Annemarie Wiley of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Media Career Came to Crashing Halt

Wiley became a well-known media figure following his NFL retirement — something that came to a crashing halt in 2023.

Following the latest round of accusations in May, Wiley responded with a video posted on YouTube.

“I’m going to continue to challenge all these false accusations,” Wiley said. “(The accusers) are trying to leverage lies for personal gain. As they say, assassination by accusation. That’s their goal. They’re trying by lying. They don’t want justice. They want just ice. Money, bling, things. For every one of them, I either saw, communicated through email, text, phone, was invited by these individuals after these dates to engage, to be intimate or all the above, after the dates that are in question.”
