Now helping the Packers: a familiar face for Bears fans.
Luke Getsy, the Bears’ offensive coordinator from 2022-23, was spotted at Packers practice on Friday. Coach Matt LaFleur later told Packers reporters that Getsy had been working with the team remotely for a few weeks but came to Green Bay for the first time this week. He is helping to advise the Packers’ defense, the way that former Jets head coach Robert Saleh, a defensive expert, is helping prepare the Packers’ offense.
Getsy worked for the Packers from 2014-17 and 2019-21 before then-head coach Matt Eberflus hired him to work for the Bears.
Eberflus fired Getsy after two seasons. He was named the Raiders’ offensive coordinator in January but became the first play-caller fired in the NFL this season. Nine days after Getsy was fired on Nov. 3, Eberflus fired the man he hired to replace him: Shane Waldron.
The Bears play at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
