Former Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds gets 3-year, $36 million deal from Giants

After one of the best seasons of his career, former Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds got a big contract offer from the Giants. He agreed Monday to a three-year, $36 million deal, sources confirmed to the Sun-Times. It includes $24 million guaranteed.

The Bears released Edmunds, 27, last week for a dead salary-cap hit of $2.4 million rather than pay him $17.4 million this season. He was terrific for the Bears last season with 112 tackles, a career-high four interceptions and a fumble recovery.

The Bears agreed to a deal with former Browns linebacker Devin Bush Jr. on Monday to replace him. Bush had 125 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and two sacks last season. He returned two of those interceptions for touchdowns.

Edmunds was a first-round pick by the Bills in 2018, then signed a four-year, $72 million deal to jump to the Bears in 2023.
