Former All-Pro RB Brian Westbrook Has Eagles Role During 2026 NFL Draft

The Philadelphia Eagles could still go in a variety of ways with their early-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. But one thing is clear — once commissioner Roger Goodell turns over the microphone, Brian Westbrook will announce a selection.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter released the NFL’s list of guest draft pick announcers Thursday for the 2026 NFL Draft. Westbrook will provide the Eagles selections over the PA system.

Guest draft pick announcers typically appear on stage beginning in the second round. In years past, Goodell has announced just about all the first-round picks.

Next week, the NFL Draft will be in Pennsylvania for the second time over the past decade. Philadelphia hosted the 2017 NFL Draft at the Eakins Oval.

This year, the draft will be in Pittsburgh for the first time since 1948.

Brian Westbrook to Announce Eagles 2026 NFL Draft Pick

GettyESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Brian Westbrook will announce the Philadelphia Eagles selections during the 2026 NFL Draft.

Assuming Westbrook makes his 2026 NFL Draft announcement in the second round, it will be a fitting appearance. The Eagles drafted the former running back on Day 2 in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft.

Playing college football at local Villanova too, Westbrook was a fan favorite in Philadelphia during his playing career. He gained 1,000 yards from scrimmage five consecutive seasons from 2004-08.

In 2007, he made first-team All-Pro while leading the NFL with 2,104 yards from scrimmage. Westbrook also had 1,333 rushing yards that season.

During Westbrook’s eight seasons with the Eagles, the team made the NFC championship game four times. They also earned a Super Bowl appearance.

Westbrook played all but one of his NFL campaigns with the Eagles. He finished his career with the San Francisco 49ers in 2010.

Westbrook ran for 5,995 rushing yards and 37 touchdowns in 107 games with Philadelphia. He amassed 9,785 yards from scrimmage and 66 touchdowns overall.

Who Could Howie Roseman Target for the Eagles in the 2026 NFL Draft?

GettyGeneral manager Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles have several needs they want to fill in the 2026 NFL Draft.

It’s a little difficult to project even the position group the Eagles might target with the pick Westbrook will likely announce on Day 2. It will be easier, though, to predict once Philadelphia has made its first-round selection.

Various pundits have argued the Eagles could target offensive line, wide receiver, edge rusher or safety in the first round.

Wide receiver, though, could make a lot of sense for Philadelphia in the second round. The Eagles added wideouts Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, Dontayvion Wicks and Elijah Moore this offseason. But analysts expect the Eagles to trade former All-Pro wideout A.J. Brown this offseason.

The Eagles might see Marquise Brown and Wicks as suitable enough help for Devonta Smith to replace Brown that the Eagles don’t select receiver in the first round. Philadelphia may also not want to add a first-round wideout because it could cause them to lose leverage in Brown trade negotiations.

But the Eagles could add receiver depth on Day 2 with a high-upside prospect. Depending on his skillset, he could help the Philadelphia offense whether or not the Eagles keep Brown.

The 2026 NFL Draft will begin on Thursday, April 23. The second and third rounds will be the following day — Friday, April 24.
