Football notes: Game time announced for CU Buffs’ trip to UCF

The spotlight will remain on the Colorado Buffaloes in Week 5.

On Sunday, the Big 12 announced that Saturday’s game between CU and Central Florida will kick off at 1:30 p.m. MT and be broadcast nationally on Fox. The game will be played at UCF’s FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando.

Fox also announced that its Big Noon Kickoff show will be in Orlando for the matchup. It’s the first time Big Noon Kickoff has been to UCF.

This is the fifth game on CU’s schedule so far selected for network TV, matching the program record from 2023.

CU (3-1, 1-0 Big12) played on NBC in Week 2 at Nebraska, on CBS in Week 3 at Colorado State and on Fox in Saturday’s 38-31 overtime win against Baylor. The Buffs also have their season finale, on Nov. 29 against Oklahoma State, slated for ABC.

The Buffs are coming off a thrilling overtime win in the Big 12 opener on Saturday. They’ll face a UCF team (3-0) coming off a bye.  This will be the first-ever meeting between the Buffs and Knights.

Feely out

CU kicker Jace Feely announced on X on Sunday that he “fully tore” his ACL during Saturday’s win.

The Buffs’ kickoff specialist, Feely was injured while making a tackle on a kickoff late in the first half on Saturday. Feely, a junior in his second year at CU, had handled all 17 of CU’s kickoffs this season before his injury.

Cristiano Palazzo took over kickoff duties after Feely’s injury.

Notable

CU opens as an 11.5-point underdog for Saturday’s game at UCF. … CU’s defense has held each of its last three opponents to under 350 yards in total offense. It’s the first time the Buffs have done that since the 2016 season. … After Saturday’s win, the Buffs are now 11-10 all-time in overtime games, including 4-1 since the start of the 2021 season.
