Football Games on TV Today: What NFL or College Football Games Are on Saturday?

The football season is rapidly approaching its conclusion, with just a few college and NFL games left before the long break through the rest of the winter — though there are a few options remaining for those looking to watch football on Saturday.

The college football season came to an end with Indiana’s resounding win in the national championship game and the NFL has reached the bye week between conference championships and the Super Bowl. While this is a traditionally quiet period for football, there is still one very important college football exhibition to watch on Saturday, though a break in what fans have come to expect from the NFL.

College Senior Bowl Kicks Off on Saturday

While the college football champion has already been crowned, there is still an all-star game left that often has huge ramifications for the upcoming NFL Draft. The Senior Bowl, which showcases the top graduating seniors ahead of their potential NFL careers, will take place.

As NCAA.com noted, the Senior Bowl is steeped in tradition.

“The 2026 Senior Bowl will carry on the long-standing tradition of the college football all-star game that began in 1950,” the report noted. “This year’s game will mark the 77th installment of the event and will kick off at 2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 31.

“In 2025, the American Team edged the National Team, 22–19, snapping the National Team’s four-year winning streak.”

The Senior Bowl kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday and will be broadcast on the NFL Network.

There have already been some other games to showcase top college football talent, including the East-West Shrine Bowl in late January. Another all-star game, the Tropical Bowl, was canceled this season.

After Saturday’s Senior Bowl, college and NFL football fans will have to wait until the NFL Combine to see the top draft talent showcase their skills.

NFL Moved Pro Bowl Date

Football fans hoping to catch some live action while preparing for the Super Bowl won’t have a traditional NFL staple. The Pro Bowl — which for many years had been played in the lonely week after the Super Bowl — was moved to the bye week to give fans a chance to watch some of their favorite players in the week before the final game.

But the Pro Bowl has undergone some major changes in format as the league looked to prevent unnecessary injuries, as USA Today noted.

“In 2010, the NFL decided to make changes,” the report noted. “The switches to new fantasy-draft game with captains picking the players. Hall of Fame players served as honorary captains and they moved the time of the game to the week before the Super Bowl.

“In 2023, the format of the game changed once more, to a less physical version that includes flag football and other athletic competitions.”

The NFL changed the format to what is now known as the Pro Bowl Games, a series of lower-intensity competitions that included a flag football game. Another change came this season, with the NFL moving the Pro Bowl games to Tuesday, Feb. 3.
