A wildfire at the Jewell Wetlands Park, the second fire in the park in five days, has been contained, according to Aurora Fire Rescue.
Officials responded to the fire in the park near the intersection of E. Jewell Avenue and S. Potomac Street around 3:13 p.m. and had it contained by 3:44 p.m., according to an X.com post by Aurora Fire Rescue. The fire burned an area the size of a football field, officials said.
No evacuations were needed before the fire was contained, and no injuries or damages have been reported.
Officials recommended residents in that neighborhood stay inside because of lingering smoke in the area.
A wildfire that eventually spread to about 2 acres sparked about 3:15 p.m. Monday in the park. Officials without any injuries or damage to nearby structures.
