A man died in a fire that started in the kitchen of a Pilsen home Tuesday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m., firefighters responded to a blaze at the home in the 1900 block of South May Street and found the man inside, Chicago Fire Department spokesperson Larry Langford said.
The unidentified man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
The fire started on the first floor kitchen and may have started because of unattended cooking, Langford said.
No smoke detectors were found in the home.
