The Lincoln Park movie arthouse formerly known as Facets Multi-Media is marking its 50th anniversary with a new name.
The not-for-profit said Tuesday that it’s now going by Facets Film Forum.
“Changing our name to Facets Film Forum underscores our commitment to fostering connections and conversations through cinema,” executive director Karen Cardarelli said in a statement.
The cinema also announced a new co-chair of its board: Rich Moskal, who retired as director of the Chicago Film Office in 2018 after more than 20 years. He succeeds Randy Adamsick, now co-chair emeritus, and will serve alongside current co-chair Tamara Bohórquez.
Moskal is programming a new series, “Chicago on Screen,” celebrating the city’s contributions to cinema with screenings of films including “The Fugitive” and “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer,” and conversations with filmmakers. It kicks off March 14.
A 50th anniversary gala is planned for September.
