Extremely Concerning Report Emerges About New York Knicks at Onset of Playoffs

An extremely concerning report has emerged about the New York Knicks at the onset of postseason play.

According to ESPN NBA analyst and three-time NBA champion Danny Green, there are internal rumblings regarding about some Knicks players being unhappy with head coach Mike Brown and his offensive overreliance on star guard Jalen Brunson. Green described the Knicks as a disconnected team on the verge of self-implosion.

Danny Green Says Knicks Are ‘Disconnected,’ Could ‘Self-Implode’

Obviously, there’s no “good” time for such a report to come out, but directly at the start of the playoffs is an especially time tough for it to surface.

“Simply because the fact that the Knicks this year, especially late in the season, they looked very up-and-down. They looked like they were disconnected. The chemistry wasn’t there,” Green said, via the New York Post.

“There are rumblings about some guys don’t like Mike Brown or work with the coaches. There are rumblings that some guys are feeling they’re not getting touches or there’s over usage of Jalen Brunson. That seems to me like a team that could self-implode.”

Green was a highly respected player with an extended career who has smoothly transitioned into the media world. He’s not just going to make something up. If he was comfortable enough to share that information, it means that it came from someone he trusts. But, that doesn’t necessarily make it true.

Danny Green Has Switched His Eastern Conference Favorite From Knicks to Celtics

Green’s concerns about the Knicks have led him to switch his pick to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals. Initially, Green had the Knicks, but he’s switched his pick to the Boston Celtics.

“Originally at the beginning of the year, I had the Knicks,” Green said. “The Knicks probably had the highest expectation, the most pressure on them. They made it to the Eastern Conference finals last year. Indiana dropped out with injuries. Boston had dropped down with injuries but came back, and they’ve been playing well even without Jayson Tatum for most of the year.

“Detroit is good. They’re just young and inexperienced,” he added. “That’s why I couldn’t give the edge to Detroit. Boston and New York have to face each other in that second round at some point. The winner of that matchup is the one that’s going to get to the Finals. Right now, I’m giving the edge to Boston, even though the Knicks have played well against Boston.”

The pressure is on the for the Knicks this offseason. They decided to make a coaching change after making it all the way to the Eastern Conference finals last season, so the organization is clearly aiming to improve upon that finish. If they fall short of that goal, more changes could come.

New York kicked off postseason play in a positive manner by pulling out a 113-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 1 of the first-round series. Brunson led the Knicks with 28 points and 7 assists in the victory. The teams will meet for Game 2 on Monday night.
