Employee arrested in death of Crestwood trucking company boss

The CEO of a Crestwood trucking company was found with his throat slashed inside a burning building last week, leading to the arrest of an employee, Crestwood police said.

Crestwood police and firefighters responded to a call of a fire at the offices of ATG Truckload in the 13800 block of South Kostner Avenue at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday and quickly extinguished a small fire, Crestwood police said. They then found the body of Dane Koteski, 46, the CEO of the company, on the second floor.

An autopsy performed by the Cook County medical examiner’s office determined that Koteski had died from injuries to his neck from a sharp object.

An employee, who has not yet been identified, was later named as a suspect and arrested at a truck stop in Holland, Michigan, at 5:15 a.m. the next day, Crestwood police said. He’s expected to be extradited to Illinois at the end of the week.

A GoFundMe started to raise money for Koteski’s funeral expenses and his 13-year-old son’s education had raised more than $94,000 of the $120,000 goal by Monday afternoon.
