Elon Musk’s trans daughter says dad ‘relentlessly harassed’ her for her femininity and queerness

Elon Musk’s estranged transgender daughter is hitting back at her “cruel,” “narcissistic” billionaire father to debunk various claims he has made about her recently, including his statement that she’s dead to him because she was brainwashed by the “woke mind virus” into thinking she wasn’t a boy.

In a series of posts on Threads — not her father’s X social platform — and in an interview with NBC News, Vivian Jenna Wilson, 20, made a number of heartbreaking claims about the powerful tech entrepreneur and father of 12 who says he loves children and sees it as his mission to help repopulate the earth.

Wilson, who is Musk’s daughter from his marriage to first wife Justine Wilson, said the Tesla and SpaceX founder was “cold,” “uncaring,” and “narcissistic” during her childhood. He also was largely absent for much of her childhood. But “in the little time” he was present, she said on Threads, “I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness.”

Wilson elaborated in her interview with NBC, saying that he would pressure her to appear more masculine, including by pushing her to deepen her voice as early as elementary school.

“I was in fourth grade,” Wilson told NBC. “We went on this road trip that I didn’t know was actually just an advertisement for one of the cars — I don’t remember which one — and he was constantly yelling at me viciously because my voice was too high.”

“It was cruel,” she said. NBC said Musk has not responded to requests for comment. In certain ways, Wilson’s allegations about her father are nothing new. Her mother has also described her ex-husband as difficult, controlling and patriarchal.

The college student also hit back at “fake” claims Musk made in an X post on Monday, in which he wrote that she was “born gay and slightly autistic.” Musk also said, “He was not a girl.” Wilson furthermore slammed Musk for relying on old stereotypes about LGBTQ people to describe her, in order “to garner sympathy.” In his X post, Musk said his child, at just 4 years old, loved musicals and theater and would pick out clothes for him to wear, declaring “fabulous.”

“This is entirely fake,” Wilson said. “Like, literally none of this ever happened. I don’t even know where he got this from. My best guess is that he went to the Milo Yiannopoulos school of gay stereotypes.”

Wilson also reasonably pointed out that, at 4, she’d wouldn’t be using the word “fabulous.” She starkly suggested that Musk’s treatment of her over the years, the fact that he would publicly denigrate her, or describe her in terms of stereotypes “says a lot about how he views queer people and children in general.”

Wilson then questioned Musk’s purpose in airing his grievances about the breakdown of their relationship in an interview this week with controversial Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson.

In that interview, Musk did not admit he had any role a role in his estrangement from his daughter. Instead, he went out of his way to insist that Wilson wasn’t female and that’s why they’re no longer in contact. He said the son he once knew was “killed by the woke mind virus” after he was tricked into giving his consent for puberty blockers.

Musk referred to Wilson by her “dead name” in saying, “I lost my son, essentially. …  My son, Xavier, is dead — killed by the woke mind virus.”

“Sure Jan,” Wilson said sardonically on Threads, in response to Musk’s refusal to accept her identity. She pointed out that she’s “legally recognized as a woman in the state of California and I don’t concern myself with the opinions of those who are below me.”

Wilson is referring to her decision, when she turned 18, to petition the court to legally change her name and to be recognized as a woman. Wilson’s petition had also asked to no longer be related to her father “in any way, shape or form.”

Wilson told NBC that Musk was not “tricked” into giving consent for her gender-affirming care. She said he knew what he was doing by signing his agreement after initially hesitating.

On Threads, Wilson additionally maligned her father for his reported recreational and medicinal use of ketamine, saying he’s in “a ketamine-fueled haze” and is “desperate for attention and validation from an army of degenerate red-pilled incels and pick-mes who are quick to give it to him.”

During Musk’s Daily Wire interview with Peterson, he explained his aggravation with transgender rights and gender-affirming care, which he said coincided with his embrace of some aspects of the right-wing agenda — along with his new, enthusiastic support for Donald Trump’s presidential election campaign. Musk told Peterson that his experience with his daughter triggered his mission to “destroy the woke mind virus.”

The Daily Wire interview came a week after Musk announced his decision to move the headquarters of his companies  SpaceX and X out of California after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill to prevent public school districts from requiring notification of parents if their child starts using different pronouns or identifies as a different gender from what’s on their school record.

Both Musk and Peterson have previously drawn the ire of transgender rights activists for complaining about the use of gender-neutral pronouns. Musk first came under fire from activists in July 2020, when he tweeted that “pronouns suck.” His partner at the time, the singer Grimes, was outraged, saying, “I cannot support hate. Please stop this. I know this isn’t your heart.”

On Thursday, Grimes voiced her support for Wilson, writing on X, “I love an am forever endlessly proud of Vivian.”

The musician has two sons and a daughter with Musk, all of whom have highly unusual, space-age names. The ex-couple were in court last fall, battling over custody and co-parenting issues. At the time, Grimes also posted since-delete social media posts in which she alleged that her ex-boyfriend was controlling and wouldn’t let him her see one of their children, their son X Æ A-Xii. She said the situation was “utterly ripping my family apart.”
