East Bay sexual assault suspect is accused of terrorizing more than one victim

ANTIOCH — A man who has been charged with more than one count of rape after Antioch police arrested him in June may have victimized others, authorities said.

Contra Costa County prosecutors have charged 37-year-old Robert Chuksorji with two counts of forcible rape and one count of kidnapping for robbery or sexual purposes, according to court documents. He remained in custody Monday at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $2 million bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 22 to argue that the bail should be reduced.

Antioch police in a statement released Monday also said they believe there may be more victims who have not spoken.

Police arrested Chuksorji on June 24 while looking for a suspect in what they called a violent sexual assault at an undisclosed time and location. The investigation uncovered other victims who police said identified Chuksorji or provided information to them.

According to police, Chuksorji would meet women in person or online, take home their phone number and begin a texting relationship. Police said when Chuksorji met those people, sexual assaults occurred.

Investigators had been probing cases with similar circumstances for more than a decade, police said. They added that Chuksorji may have used several names and that they believe there were other unreported sexual assaults.

Police urged anyone who may have encountered Cuksorji to contact 925-779-6900 and ask for investigations.
