Eagles Predicted to Land Elite Potential Jalen Hurts Replacement

Over the last few years, the rumors and speculation surrounding Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts have been loud and confusing.

Hurts has already led the Eagles to two Super Bowls. He has won one of those Super Bowls and dominantly defeated Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in that game.

Despite the success that he has had with the franchise, rumors have suggested that Philadelphia may not view him as a long-term option. Plenty of talk has surfaced about Hurts having issues in the locker room. However, the team has done nothing but stand behind the quarterback.

With that being said, a new prediction has been made that would see the Eagles land an elite potential replacement for Hurts.

Eagles Predicted to Replace Jalen Hurts With Star College QB

USA Today’s Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz has released a “way-too-early” 2027 NFL mock draft. In that mock draft, he had Philadelphia selecting Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin.

“f Jalen Hurts doesn’t receive a contract extension this offseason and struggles to mesh with new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion’s plan, things could come to a head next offseason for the Eagles and their star quarterback,” Middlehurst-Schwartz wrote.

“Sayin could be a somewhat confounding evaluation coming from an Ohio State offense that affords him a good deal of luxuries. But while some might have questions about his modest size (6-1, 208 pounds) and limitations outside of the pocket, there’s no question he can play the role of a quick-processing and precise distributor.”

Julian Sayin Has Legitimate Superstar NFL Potential

Sayin is coming off of his first season as a starting college quarterback with the Ohio State Buckeyes last season. He played extremely well and was one of the top Heisman Trophy candidates in the country.

When all was said and done, Sayin completed 77 percent of his pass attempts for 3,610 yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Hurts and the Eagles could very well work out a new long-term deal between now and the 2027 NFL Draft. But, if they aren’t able to do so, would Philadelphia consider moving on?

A lot of that would depend on how much of the rumors surrounding the Eagles have been true. If the front office truly does have doubt when it comes to Hurts, the move could make sense. Should he actually be a problem in the locker room, Sayin could be viewed as an option.

Only time will tell, but the 2026 season is a big year in Philadelphia. If the Eagles come up short of expectations once again, Howie Roseman could consider making some aggressive changes next offseason.
