The Philadelphia Eagles could once again find themselves at the center of a blockbuster defensive conversation this offseason.
During an appearance on The Anthony Gargano Show, NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo didnât hesitate when asked whether the Eagles would be involved if Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby becomes available.
âBig time,â Garafolo said.
âI would put the Eagles in the top three, five, whatever [teams] for Maxx Crosby if and when this thing opens up, and I do believe itâs going to open up.â
Longtime NFL analyst Brian Baldinger took it even further:
âMaxx Crosby would LOVE playing in Philadelphia,â Baldinger said.
âIâm still waiting for them to build a statue of Reggie⦠but he would be pretty close to a modern day Reggie in this town. ⦠I would say this: Newborn kids â they would name their son Maxx with two Xâs.â
Thatâs the kind of hype that rarely surfaces unless thereâs real smoke behind the scenes.
Why Maxx Crosby Makes Sense for the Eagles
The Eaglesâ defensive line will be under the microscope again this offseason.
After losing key contributors last year and navigating inconsistency early in 2025, Philadelphia once again faces uncertainty on the edge.
Jaelan Phillips is a pending free agent, and depth remains a concern.
That context makes Garafoloâs comments even more notable.
Philadelphia has not been shy about pursuing elite pass rushers.
Reports last year indicated the Eagles made a significant offer for Micah Parsons.
There were also strong connections to Myles Garrett before he signed an extension.
General manager Howie Roseman has consistently shown a willingness to swing big when an elite defensive difference maker becomes available.
Crosby certainly qualifies.
Through seven seasons with the Raiders, he has appeared in 110 games and totaled 69.5 sacks, 402 tackles, 29 passes defended and five straight Pro Bowl selections.
Even in 2025, despite missing time, he posted 10 sacks, 73 tackles and 28 tackles for loss in just 15 games.
He averages more than 10 sacks per season for his career and rarely comes off the field.
For a defense led by Vic Fangio, adding a relentless, high-motor edge rusher like Crosby would make the Eaglesâ defense one of the best in the NFL.
Crosby Has Already Embraced Philadelphiaâs Edge
There is also an emotional layer to this rumor.
Crosby openly praised the Philadelphia atmosphere after playing at Lincoln Financial Field, calling it the kind of gritty December football environment players dream about.
Baldingerâs comparison to Reggie White may be bold, but it underscores how well Crosbyâs playing style would resonate with the fan base.
Still, a trade would not come cheap.
Crosbyâs contract situation means any trade would be a major investment.
He signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension with the Raiders in March 2025 that ties him to the team through 2029, making him one of the leagueâs most expensive edge rushers.
But tension caused by the Raiders “shutting him down” has ignited trade rumors.
If this âthing opens up,â as Garafolo suggested, it would be surprising if the Eagles are not near the front of the line.
