Driver rescued from overturned car at Harlem Irving Plaza Mall

A motorist was extricated from a car after it drove through a guardrail at Harlem and Irving Plaza Mall and flipped over, according to Norridge police.

About 12:30 p.m. Monday, Norridge police and the Norwood Park Fire Protection District responded to a call of a vehicle that had driven through the guardrail of the parking lot at Harlem Irving Plaza near West Belle Plaine Avenue and Octavia Avenue about 1 p.m. Monday, police said.

They found the vehicle on its roof with a driver who had to be extricated from the car.

“We’re not sure exactly what happened, but she went over the edge of the parking garage and landed on the roof,” Lt. Ronald Schneider of the Norwood Fire Protection District told WGN News.

The driver was taken to Lutheran General Hospital with “non-life threatening injuries,” police said.
