A driver was dead after striking a light post Monday night in Avalon Park on the South Side.
Around 10 p.m., the motorist, a 31-year-old man, was eastbound in the 7900 block of South Avalon Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a light pole, Chicago police said.
He was taken to Trinity Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Officials say the man may have been speeding when the crash happened.
No other injuries were reported.
