Rory McIlroy is taking some well-deserved time off after his second straight Masters victory. President Donald Trump may have just revealed McIlroy’s next PGA Tour tournament.
Trump announced that he plans to attend the Cadillac Championship in Doral which tees off on April 30, 2026. McIlroy has yet to confirm his attendance, but Trump indicated that the Masters champion will be playing.
“Congratulations to Rory McIlroy on another Great Championship, The Masters!” Trump remarked in an April 13, Truth Social post. “He performed tremendously under intense pressure, something which few people would be able to even think about doing. With each year, Rory is becoming more and more a LEGEND!
“I look forward to watching him compete in two weeks at Doral. The quality of Professional Golfers today has become extraordinary, each and every one of them. They should all be proud of the way they played at The Masters this weekend!”

Rory McIlroy’s Schedule: When Will the Masters Champ Play Next on the PGA Tour?
After the Masters win, McIlroy revealed that he planned to take “a couple weeks off.” McIlroy noted that he does not plan to take an extended time off from PGA Tour events like he did after the 2025 victory at Augusta National.
“I think different (the schedule between events). Different (from 2025),” McIlroy explained in an April 13, media session. “Yeah, I said at the start of the weekend here I felt like the Grand Slam was the destination, and I realized it wasn’t. I’m on this journey to — I don’t know, I just won my sixth major, and I feel like I’m in a really good spot with my game and my body.
“… I’ve waited so long to win the Masters, and all of a sudden I win two in a row. So I still want to enjoy it. I’ve got a couple of weeks off before I go back to play competitive golf, but I don’t think I’ll go through that lull of motivation or the sort of things that I was feeling last year post winning this tournament.”
What Is Rory McIlroy’s Relationship With Donald Trump?
McIlroy has a relationship with Trump, but it is unknown just how close the two are. The golfer revealed that he has played with Trump, noting that the two had a “good discussion.”
“Yeah, I played golf with him a few weeks ago,” McIlroy said of Trump during a February 2025, media session. “… It was great. Yeah, it was really good. It was really good.
“I thought we had a good discussion. I learned that he’s not a fan of the LIV format. … I was like, but you’ve hosted their events. He’s like, yeah, but it doesn’t mean that I like it. So, I think he’s on the (PGA) Tour side.”
There is a chance Trump could be disappointed as McIlroy has yet to commit to playing at the Cadillac Championship. McIlroy previously revealed that he plans to be more selective about his upcoming tournament schedule.
The PGA Championship is the next major on the PGA Tour schedule which tees off on May 14, at the Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
