Dolphins Can Now Draft Caleb-Williams-Clone, Trinidad Chambliss

Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was dealt some brutal news Friday afternoon when the NCAA decided that the Division II fifth-year transfer would not be allowed to play a sixth year.

Chambliss threw for nearly 4,000 yards in just 13 games after starting his first season in Division I as a backup to the now-transferred Austin Simmons.

Chambliss’s Rebels were eliminated from College Football Playoff contention Thursday night after a devastating 31-27 loss to the Miami Hurricanes.

The 23-year-old phenom finished the season with 3,937 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and only three interceptions in his 13 Division I starts. He also added more than 500 yards on the ground and eight more rushing touchdowns.

He has not yet declared for the NFL Draft, but he is quickly running out of options.

Should he make himself eligible, the Miami Dolphins could get their hands on the most talented quarterback in the entire draft class.

Miami Dolphins Mock Draft: Trinidad Chambliss 11th Overall

Experience will be Chambliss’s Achilles heel in this April’s discussions about where the quarterback should be selected.

But when looking at arm talent and athleticism alone, consensus first overall selection Francisco Mendoza does not compare.

Chambliss has a six-foot-one frame that is packed stout with more than 200 pounds of muscle.

He did a lot of work in the run game with his legs, but his real NFL selling point will be his Caleb Williams-like escapability.

He is nearly impossible to take down in the pocket, getting sacked only 14 times in his entire senior season.

When he does run at his Pro Day or the NFL Combine, Chambliss will post a forty yard dash inside the high 4.4 range.

Chambliss possesses above average deep ball accuracy and the arm to make any throw on the field.

He has struggled layering passes over defenders with touch, which is why many believe that he is not as polished as passers like Mendoza and Dante Moore. But with the 11th overall selection the Dolphins likely won’t be in a position to draft either of those two.

I am of the belief that he has a strong chance to be better than both of them at the next level.
