Dodgers Announce Historic Change Ahead of First Road Trip of the Season

The Los Angeles Dodgers may have lost their three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians, but after sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks to begin the year, it’s clear that this team is going to be a threat to win its third-straight World Series. With a 4-2 record, the Dodgers are the early frontrunner in the National League West division, which is a spot they are expected to hold for the majority of the year.

Over the past few years, Los Angeles has continually been finding new ways to make history, thanks in large part to the rate at which they have been winning. Ahead of the team’s first road trip of the 2026 campaign, though, L.A. revealed that it will be making history in a more unique way, and it involves its uniform combinations for the season.

Dodgers Share Historic Uniform News

The Dodgers have become notorious across the world of professional sports for doing whatever they feel is necessary to build a winner. In an era where their competitors are more conscientious about their spending than ever before, Los Angeles’ front office is spending like there’s no tomorrow, and the result has seen the team win the World Series in each of the past two years.

Over the offseason, the Dodgers once again outspent their competitors, with their free agency haul seeing them land prized players like outfielder Kyle Tucker and closer Edwin Diaz. With guys like Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto leading a star-studded roster, L.A. has constructed a seemingly invincible team.

While that same sentiment has rung true in years past, Los Angeles is looking to switch things up in 2026 … just maybe not in the way that many fans would expect. As the team hits the road for the first time this season, the Dodgers announced that, for the first time in franchise history, they will be wearing a blue jersey as part of their away uniform rotation.

“Dodger Blue. For the first time in history, the Dodgers will be wearing a blue jersey as part of their regular uniform rotation on the road,” the team announced in a post on its official X account.

Dodgers Turn Attention to Upcoming Series vs. Nationals

This announcement has certainly caught the attention of fans, as blue jerseys have become a staple of the team’s home games at Dodger Stadium. Now, the team will be expanding its reach with its trademark Dodger Blue colors, as it will be repping these jerseys when it takes the road, too, which is a somewhat surprising change.

Regardless of what jersey the Dodgers wear, their main goal of winning games remains the same. They will be looking to get back on track after their aforementioned series defeat at the hands of the Guardians, and they will have a good shot at doing so against the Washington Nationals. After enjoying a day off on Thursday, L.A. will be back in action at 1:05 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon for its series-opener against Washington.
