Dillon Brooks wasted little time acknowledging his new contract after agreeing to remain with the Phoenix Suns.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Brooks and the Suns agreed to a fully guaranteed three-year, $73 million contract extension that keeps the veteran forward under contract through the 2029-30 season.
Shortly after the news became public, Brooks responded on Instagram with a one-word message.
“Reup.”
The brief post came after Phoenix committed to one of its most important offseason priorities by extending Brooks following his impressive first season with the franchise.
The extension had long been part of the organization’s plans after the acquisition of Brooks in the Kevin Durant trade.
Phoenix owner Mat Ishbia previously explained why Brooks became such an important part of the franchise’s identity.
“Dillon represents everything we talked about. When I talk about culture and identity and toughness and care and work ethic, that’s Dillon Brooks,” Ishbia said during the regular season.
Ishbia also praised Brooks’ behind-the-scenes commitment.
“Dillon Brooks made a massive jump. A lot of people talk about his offense, and he made a massive jump, and he earned that.
He’s in early, he stays late, he comes in after the games and shoots comes in the night, morning, before the games. This is in the playoffs. This is before the season. This is in the middle of season.”
He added, “You get what you deserve in life. You earn it, and he earned it.”
The new contract gives Brooks roughly a $3 million annual raise from the deal he originally signed with the Houston Rockets in 2023 and keeps him with Phoenix through his age-35 season.
Dillon Brooks Rewarded After Career-Best Season With Phoenix Suns
The extension follows the best offensive season of Brooks’ NBA career.
In 56 games, all starts, Brooks averaged a career-high 20.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 43.5% from the field, 34.4% from three-point range and 84.2% from the free-throw line.
His production helped the Suns return to the playoffs after missing the postseason the previous year.
Brooks averaged a career-best 20.2 points per game as Phoenix secured the Western Conference’s eighth seed before being swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the opening round.
Bjorn Bergstrom of “Ducks Wire” also noted that Brooks’ increased offensive freedom and defensive intensity made him one of the biggest success stories on Phoenix’s roster during the 2025-26 campaign.
Brooks originally joined the Suns after spending two seasons with the Houston Rockets. Before that, he played six seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, earning NBA All-Defensive Team honors in 2023 while developing a reputation as one of the league’s toughest perimeter defenders.
According to Shams Charania, the Suns have emphasized continuity throughout the offseason by extending Brooks alongside new multiyear agreements for Collin Gillespie, Jordan Goodwin and Mark Williams, while also acquiring Miles Bridges.
Brooks’ extension continues that strategy and ensures one of Phoenix’s emotional leaders and most productive two-way players remains a central part of the franchise’s plans for years to come.
