Denver is activating its Cold Weather Shelter Plan in response to the arrival of colder weather this weekend. The Department of Housing Stability is opening up three extra shelters starting at 1 p.m. Feb. 8 and continuing until 11 a.m. Feb. 13.
Individuals looking for shelter can go to the city’s “front door” shelters. Shelters include:
- Denver Rescue Mission Lawrence Street Community Center, 2222 Lawrence St., for individual men
- Samaritan House, 2301 Lawrence St., for individual women
- Urban Peak, 1630 S. Acoma St., for individuals ages 12 to 24
- Families in need may call the Connection Center at 303-295-3366
Round-the-clock shelter will be available at The Aspen shelter at 4040 Quebec St. and city facilities at 2601 W. 7th Ave. and 375 S. Zuni St.
The city reminds that cold weather poses a serious threat to unhoused people and encourages individuals to seek shelter.
