With temperatures expected to drop as low as minus 12 in Denver this weekend, the city is adjusting its trash collection and recycling services schedule.
Instead of following regular collection schedules as previously planned, the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s Solid Waste Management Division will follow a holiday schedule because of the cold weather, closing for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. While services will resume on Tuesday, all collections next week will be delayed by one day.
Additionally, the department will reduce its manned Treecycle drop-off sites to a single location, Central Platte Campus at 1271 West Bayaud Ave., on Saturday. All other drop-off sites will be closed on Saturday to reduce workers’ and clients’ exposure to extreme temperatures. Weekday Treecycle drop-off sites will be open the rest of the month.
