Officer Zurisadai Beltran was arrested on suspicion of attempting to influence a public servant and insurance fraud after someone submitted a tip to the National Insurance Crime Bureau alleging she filed a false auto theft report after an acquaintance was involved in a crash while driving her vehicle on April 16, 2022.

Beltran, 24, wasn’t in the vehicle during the crash. After she filed an insurance claim, a payout was sent to her car loan company, according to Denver police.

The crash occurred before Beltran was hired as a DPD officer in 2023, and the agency has since fired her, police officials said in a news release Thursday.

She is in custody at the Downtown Detention Center, according to jail records.
