Denver Nuggets Get Important News Before Facing Anthony Edwards

The Denver Nuggets‘ first-round opponent has a star player on their injury report. On Friday night (April 17), the Minnesota Timberwolves announced that Anthony Edwards was questionable to play in Game 1.

For the Nuggets, facing an Edwards-less team to begin the series would be a massive advantage. However, all signs are pointing to Edwards getting a chance to suit up on Saturday, April 18.

Lately, Edwards has been dealing with a knee-related setback, which seems to be minor. Still, the Timberwolves are taking a cautious approach with the superstar guard, as they don’t want to put his health for the entire season in jeopardy.

For the Timberwolves, the fact that Edwards has been participating in practice all week is clearly a positive sign that he’ll be able to push through any discomfort and play.

However, the Timberwolves have not upgraded his status just yet.

*UPDATE: The Timberwolves have updated Anthony Edwards’ status for Game 1. The veteran guard is listed as available to play on Saturday, April 18.

Denver is likely preparing for the reality of Edwards playing on Saturday.

He’s an opponent they know well. After all, Edwards recently dished his thoughts on the Minnesota-Denver rivalry.

“Yeah, for sure [it’s a rivalry]. I don’t think there’s anything else to call it but a rivalry,” Edwards told reporters on Wednesday afternoon. “I think there’s a lot of rivalries in the league now. And me and Denver is one of them.”

This year, the Timberwolves and the Nuggets have played each other four times.

Unlike last year, when the Wolves swept the Nuggets with four wins, the Timberwolves came up short in all but one game.

In their last time out, back in March, the Timberwolves avoided the sweep with a 117-108 win. Edwards checked in for 39 minutes during that game. The star guard produced 21 points, six assists, three rebounds, one steal, and two blocks.

Game 1 is set for a 3:30 PM ET tip. Edwards will soon find out his official status.
