Denver man found guilty of 2023 bank robbery spree

A Denver man was found guilty this month of robbing two banks, two credit unions and a taco shop during a 2023 crime spree, according to federal prosecutors and court records.

Flozell Beasley, 72, was convicted of four counts of bank robbery and one count of robbery affecting interstate commerce.

Beasley dressed as a construction worker and threatened employees with a replica firearm during the crimes, which took place between May and July 2023.

After robbing the Vectra Bank in Denver’s North Capitol Hill neighborhood, Beasley escaped on a bus. Twelve minutes later, Police boarded the bus and arrested Beasley, who was found with the stolen money, which contained a GPS tracker, as well as a replica gun, construction vest and helmet.

“This individual is a previously convicted felon who was released from prison and returned to robbing banks and a restaurant when his chosen bank was closed,” FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek said in a news release.
