Denver man accused of fatally shooting roommate

A Denver man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murder in the fatal shooting of his roommate, police said.

Tyler Nelson, a 30-year-old Denver man, was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Downtown Denver Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to jail records.

Nelson called 911 around 1:02 a.m. Tuesday to report a shooting at his apartment in the 600 block of South Dayton Street, according to a news release from the Denver Police Department.

When officers arrived on scene in the Windsor neighborhood, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. The woman — who has not been publicly identified by police — died from her injuries before paramedics could take her to the hospital.

Nelson and the woman lived together and had an argument before the shooting, police said. The nature of their relationship was not available Wednesday.
