Denver and Lakewood city leaders are opening severe weather shelters as temperatures are forecast to drop to their coldest so far this season, between 10 to 15 degrees below normal.

Three extra shelters will be open in Denver from 1 p.m. Tuesday to 11 a.m. Wednesday, city officials said in a news release.
People needing shelter should visit one of the city’s shelter “front doors:”
Men can go to the Denver Rescue Mission’s Lawrence Street Community Center, 2222 Lawrence St.
Women can go to Samaritan House, 2301 Lawrence St.
Young people ages 15 to 20 can go to Urban Peak, 1630 Acoma St.
Families can call the Connection Center at 303-295-3366.
Additional shelters will be open at the former Best Western hotel at 4595 Quebec St., 2601 W. Seventh Ave., and 375 S. Zuni St.
Lakewood’s severe weather shelter will be open from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday at 8000 W. Colfax Ave. for people 18 years and older. No reservations are needed and the shelter is pet-friendly
