The Original Chubby’s, at 1231 W. 38th Ave., a locale so popular a line streams out the door on Sunday evenings, faced extreme competition from Little Anita’s New Mexican Foods, 1550 S. Colorado Blvd. Chubby’s won by 13 votes.

Another old timer, Brewery Bar II, 150 Kalamath St., handsomely beat La Loma on 1801 Broadway with 56% of the vote.

Others trounced their competition, such as Santiago’s, which has restaurants across the Front Range, took 72% of the popular vote against D’Corazon. Los Dos Potrillos also has a smattering of stores across the Front Range and will open its first Denver location this spring or summer. It advances over Las Cazuelas in Lakewood with 75% of the vote. Also moving on to the next round are El Toro, Sam’s No. 3, El Taco de Mexico and Tamales Moreno.
