Police are investigating the Friday death of an 84-year-old woman in the Morgan Park neighborhood as a homicide, officials said.
Belinda Ruiz’s son found Belina Ruiz “cold to the touch” around 8:45 a.m. Friday inside her home on the front room floor at 11000 S. Washtenaw Ave. according to Chicago police reports.
Responding paramedics said Ruiz died from apparently natural causes and she was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:12 a.m. Friday, according to police reports.
But an autopsy determined Ruiz’s death was a homicide due to multiple injuries from an assault, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Area 2 detectives are investigating.
