Cowboys Trade Buzz Opens Door for Jets Monster Move

There has been some new buzz that the Dallas Cowboys are interested in making a huge trade during the 2026 NFL draft. Should the New York Jets enter the conversation?

The Ringer’s draft insider, Todd McShay, revealed that there is some smoke around America’s Team trading up in round one.

“Trading out of No. 3 remains one of the priorities [for the Cardinals],” McShay said on “The McShay Show” via A-to-Z Sports. “There’s a lot of buzz about Dallas trading up from 12 to 3 to get [David] Bailey.”

If Dallas were willing to move up to No. 3 overall, I’d imagine they’d be interested in moving up to No. 2 overall.

As Always, This Deal Only Works if the Price Is Right

Insider Bruce Feldman released his annual mock draft for The Athletic, “based on intel from coaches, scouts, and agents.”

He predicted that the Cowboys would trade up from the No. 12 overall pick with the Cardinals to acquire the No. 3 overall pick.

“The Cowboys didn’t get Maxx Crosby and still could use more juice attacking offenses. They would love for [Arvell] Reese to fall here, but Bailey is another true difference-maker in a draft that isn’t all that deep with them,” Feldman wrote.

Some more buzz. However, the proposed trade that Feldman offered in this scenario wouldn’t be anywhere near enough for the Cardinals or for the Jets.

Dallas Cowboys receive: a 2026 first-round pick (No. 3 overall)

Arizona Cardinals receive: a 2026 first-round pick (No. 12 overall) and a 2026 third-round pick (No. 92 overall)

According to the NFL draft value chart, the Cardinals’ pick is worth 2,200 points. The Cowboys’ pair of selections is worth 1,332 points.

That 868 point differential is worth the equivalent of the No. 20 overall pick in the first round, the value chart reveals. Which means Dallas would be getting an insane discount if that were the actual cost to move up. Interestingly, the Cowboys own that exact pick in the first round thanks to the Micah Parsons Green Bay Packers trade.

In other words, a fairer trade would involve Dallas coughing up both of their first-round picks and their third-round pick to move up with the Cardinals or the Jets in 2026.

Vegas Line Has Shifted…

“The more rumors that swirl the more I feel like everyone wants to trade up for Arvell Reese and are preparing for it if the Jets really do pass and take David Bailey,” ESPN’s Ben Solak posted on X.

Earlier this week, a shift occurred. For months, it has seemed that Ohio State defender Arvell Reese will be the pick for the Jets at No. 2 overall.

However, multiple plugged-in insiders have heard some serious buzz that Texas Tech’s David Bailey will be the pick instead.

That recent conversation has now shifted the Vegas odds.

“David Bailey is the new betting favorite to be the No. 2 overall pick for the New York Jets,” Jaime Eisner of The Draft Network posted:

The Jets earned the No. 2 overall pick by virtue of their terrible 3-14 record. If they receive an offer they can’t refuse, the Jets should jump at the opportunity. However, if they’re selling the pick for 50 cents on the dollar, then they’d be better served sticking and picking a blue-chip player to help accelerate this rebuild.
