Colts Trade Idea Deals Pro Bowler to NFC South

Pro Bowl cornerback Kenny Moore requested a trade from the Indianapolis Colts after 9 seasons with the organization, with the team granting his request. The cornerback had logged 21 interceptions, 68 pass deflections and 649 total tackles during his tenure with Indianapolis.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter revealed that Moore is likely to be traded during the 2026 NFL Draft. It was also revealed that the cornerback was not present on the opening day of the team’s voluntary organized team activities (OTAs).

With the draft around the corner, one NFL writer dropped a trade idea for the Colts and suggested where they could deal Kenny Moore.

Trade Idea Sends Kenny Moore to the NFC South

Despite likely leaving the organization, Kenny Moore has nothing but love for the team. The former Pro Bowler had a message after the news of his trade request, saying, “It’s all good. It’s all love.”

With the defender’s exit imminent, Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay dropped a trade idea that would send Moore to the Carolina Panthers.

“The Indianapolis Colts and Kenny Moore II appear to be heading towards a breakup, one that could come as soon as the 2026 NFL draft… While Moore is on the wrong side of 30 and has regressed in recent years, he’s still a serviceable defensive back… [he] can still chip in as a part-time playmaker who rounds out the secondary for a contending club,” Kay wrote.

“Carolina is attempting to build on a surprise NFC South championship and desires to put what became a lengthy rebuilding process in the rearview, an endeavor that a low-cost veteran pickup can greatly assist with… Given Moore is likely on his way out of Indy via a release if a trade doesn’t emerge during the draft, the Panthers should be able to get him for little more than a sixth-round pick swap.”

If Indy were to deal the former Pro Bowler to the Panthers, it would save around $7 million in cap space, which the team can use with many notable free agents remaining on the market.

Adding Kenny Moore to Carolina’s defense would give the team a vocal captain with Pro Bowl and playoff experience, something the team needs as hope to return to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

The Pro Bowler was the team’s nickel cornerback, something the Colts will need to address with his inevitable departure.

Colts May Release Kenny Moore Instead

While the window remains open for trading Kenny Moore, Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard did not shut out the possibility of the team releasing the cornerback instead.

“Though he didn’t say so explicitly, Ballard indicated he may be willing to release Moore, saying Moore would be given ‘some latitude,’ though he wouldn’t commit to such a move if a trade partner couldn’t be found in the near future,” Nathan Brown of the Indianapolis Star reported.

The draft is the last possibility Indy can get something in return for the cornerback, instead of just creating cap space if they were to release Kenny Moore.
