Heavy snow continued to fall across Colorado on Thursday morning, and National Weather Service forecasters said the storm could drag on through the weekend.
Snow was increasing in coverage and intensity across the Colorado plains and metro area Thursday morning, according to NWS radars.
The Palmer Divide and Eastern Plains will see the heaviest snow Thursday with up to 11 inches of accumulation possible, NWS forecasters said. The Denver area could also see another 1 to 4 inches, and more snow is expected to fall in the southern metro.
Forecasters said “hazardous to nearly impossible travel conditions” will exist across the plains and metro area with more travel impacts south of Interstate 70.
A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect for most of the Denver area from Thursday night to Saturday morning, forecasters said. The exact timeframes for the watch were not available.
“Moderate to heavy snow is possible … Friday into Saturday morning as the storm system of the last few days is finally expected to push out of the area,” forecasters said in a Hazardous Weather Alert. Snow is expected to taper off Thursday evening across Colorado before moving back in Friday morning.
The Eastern Plains could see up to a foot of snow from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning, forecasters said in the weather alert.

Mountain passes in southern Colorado above 10,000 feet, especially in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and San Juan Mountains, are forecast to see up to 2 feet of new snowfall by Friday morning, according to NWS snow forecasts.
A Winter Storm Warning for the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and a Winter Weather Advisory for the San Juan Mountains remain in effect until 5 a.m. Saturday.
