Colorado weather: Snow tapers off Tuesday morning, returns Wednesday night

The snowstorm that largely missed Denver is wrapping up across Colorado on Tuesday, but chances of winter weather are forecast to return later this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Light snow will start up again in Colorado’s mountains Wednesday night and continue through Saturday, NWS forecasters said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook.

Denver has a 20% chance of rain and snow Wednesday evening, a 50% chance of rain and snow Thursday morning, a 60% chance of snow Thursday night and a 50% chance of snow Friday morning, NWS forecasters said.

A mix of rain and snow is forecast to hit the Eastern Plains during the day on Thursday and Friday, but little to no accumulation is expected, according to the Hazardous Weather Outlook.

Warmer, spring-like weather will return this weekend and early next week across Colorado, forecasters said in the outlook.

The mountains will see highs in the high 40s and low 50s starting Sunday, according to forecasters. Temperatures in Denver are forecast to return to the 60s on Sunday and hit 66 degrees on Monday.
