Colorado weather: Another 6 inches of snow forecast for mountain passes on Thursday, Friday

Another 6 inches of accumulation is expected across Colorado’s mountain passes as snow continues to fall Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Several inches of snow had already stacked up Thursday morning in the state’s higher elevations, but the winter weather was expected to continue into Friday, according to the weather service.

On Mount Zirkel, the highest summit in the Park Range of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, snow will be possible until 10 p.m. Friday, according to hourly forecasts from the weather service.

As of Thursday morning, the weather service’s expected snow forecasts for the remaining storm included:

No snow is expected in the Denver area, forecasters said. Rain will be possible in the city between 11 a.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday, and between 11 a.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday, according to the weather service.

Mountain snow is expected to continue into Friday, but the storm’s intensity will decrease Thursday afternoon and several weather alerts — including a winter storm warning for the Park Range and a winter weather advisory for the Front Range mountains — will expire, according to the weather service.
