Colorado high school football: How Post Preps Top 10 teams fared in Week 4

Class 5A

1. Cherry Creek (2-1) at Highland Park (Texas), 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: vs. No. 10 Pine Creek, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

2. Mountain Vista (4-0) Bye: After rampaging through their first four games with a combined scoring margin of 215-18, the Golden Eagles get a week to recuperate ahead of the second half of the season. Next week: at Overland, 7 p.m. Sept. 26.

3. Columbine (4-0) won vs. 4A No. 6 Vista Ridge, 42-7: The Rebels chewed up 357 yards on the ground, with the two-headed backfield of senior James Basinger (14 carries, 129 yards, 3 TDs) and junior Mark Snyder (16-136, 2 TDs) both topping 100 yards in a rout. The trio of Azriel Anzo, Oliver Steffen and Will Monroe each had one sack apiece for a Columbine defense that shut out Vista Ridge for the first three quarters while building a 35-0 lead. Next week: at 4A No. 7 Heritage, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

4. Valor Christian (3-0) at Mullen, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: vs. No. 6 Ralston Valley, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

5. Legend (3-1) Bye: The Titans get their Week 0 bye ahead of a tough matchup with undefeated Castle View next Friday at EchoPark Stadium. Next week: Next week: vs. No. 8 Castle View, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

6. Ralston Valley (4-0) won vs. ThunderRidge, 39-2: Sophomore Colton Stratman ran in a pair of touchdowns, junior quarterback Zeke Andrews had one touchdown passing and another on the ground, and the Mustangs defense produce a safety to move to 4-0 for the first time since Matt Loyd’s final year as head coach in 2021. Next week: at No. 4 Valor Christian, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

7. Chatfield (3-0) vs. Brighton, 7:30 p.m. Friday. Next week: at Douglas County, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

8. Castle View (4-0) won at Douglas County, 37-16: After falling behind 16-0, the Sabercats ripped off 37 unanswered points to claim the Battle of the Rock for the eighth time in 10 meetings. Seniors Austin Perry (25 carries, 167 yards) and Camden Tobler (15-106) both topped 100 yards on the ground, with the latter scoring three touchdowns. Zach Bitton added an interception for the Castle View defense, which has allowed 29 total points through four games. Next week: at No. 5 Legend, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

9. Fairview (3-0) at Monarch, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: vs. Smoky Hill, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

10. Pine Creek (2-1) vs. Arapahoe, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: at No. 1 Cherry Creek, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

Class 4A

1. Palmer Ridge (4-0) won at Longmont, 49-14: The Bears rolled up 329 yards on the ground, led by senior Avier Elvira’s 6-carry, 106-yard night, and senior QB Carson Campbell threw a pair of TDs and ran for another to cruise to 4-0 to start the season. Seven different players scored touchdowns for the Bears, who have now won 28 straight regular-season games dating back to the 2021 season. Next week: vs. No. 8 Mesa Ridge, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

2. Broomfield (3-0) vs. Legacy, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: vs. Erie, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

3. Montrose (3-0) vs. Grand Junction Central, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: at Fruita Monument, 6 p.m. Sept. 26.

4. Pueblo West (4-0) Bye: The Cyclones have posted three consecutive 7-5 seasons, but after first 4-0 start in five years, they appear primed for much more. Next week: at No. 6 Vista Ridge, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

5. Dakota Ridge (2-1) at 3A No. 3 Pomona, 4 p.m. Friday. Next week: vs. Cherokee Trail, 7 p.m. Sept. 27

6. Vista Ridge (3-1) lost at 5A No. 3 Columbine, 42-7: The Wolves ran into a 5A buzzsaw in their first loss of the season. The defending 5A champions kept Vista Ridge out of the end zone until the fourth quarter, long after Columbine’s ground-and-pound attack put the game away. Next week: vs. No. 4 Pueblo West, 7 p.m. Sept. 27.
