California Highway Patrol officers ended a 21-mile pursuit on the 405 Freeway, near Westminster, after authorities said an armed man kidnapped his ex-girlfriend from her workplace in El Monte on Saturday.

Around 6 p.m. on Nov. 2, the woman reported her ex-boyfriend arrived at her place of work on the 10300 block of Lower Azusa Road. The man appeared distraught and was armed with a firearm when he got into an argument with the woman, which escalated when he forced her into her own car and drove away, the El Monte Police Department said in a Sunday statement.
