Child shot in Pueblo after confrontation about stolen bicycle

A child was shot in Pueblo on Sunday after a confrontation about a stolen bicycle, according to the Pueblo Police Department.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 1700 block of Constitution Road around 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, according to a Sunday evening news release from the Pueblo Police Department.

A man and his child were searching for the child’s stolen bicycle when they found it in front of a residential building, according to police. The man confronted the residents and “a disturbance occurred,” the release said. The child, whose age was not disclosed, was shot and taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the department said.

A person barricaded themselves inside the residence and the Pueblo Police Department SWAT team was called, according to the release.
