Chiefs Predicted to Land RB Alvin Kamara in Trade This Summer

The Kansas City Chiefs gave their backfield a boost when they landed Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, but one insider believes they aren’t done making additions.

The Chiefs struggled to generate a consistent ground game in 2025, one of the biggest factors to an overall offensive downturn as the team missed the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade. While the addition of Walker is expected to immediately improve their backfield, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox believes the Chiefs have room to land veteran Alvin Kamara to add more versatility.

Saints Could Part Ways With Alvin Kamara

Knox noted that Kamara is happy with the New Orleans Saints, expressing excitement about getting to play with Travis Etienne Jr. after the team gave the veteran back a four-year contract. The Saints could have other plans, Knox wrote.

“However, the Saints may not be quite as eager to keep the 30-year-old Kamara. They brought back Devin Neal, Kendre Miller, and Audric Estimé, signed Etienne and Ty Johnson, and added CJ Donaldson as an undrafted free agent,” Knox wrote. “While Kamara is on the roster now, that could change after June 1. After that date, the Saints would save $456,741 in cap space by trading him. Moving him before June 1 would cost $7.6 million in additional 2026 cap space.”

Knox added that Kamara would still hold plenty of value, despite his age, and named the Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys as the top potential suitors.

“While New Orleans is unlikely to get a massive return for an aging back, Kamara’s dual-threat ability should warrant some interest from running back-needy teams,” Knox wrote. “The Saints will be more likely to accept a bargain offer once the cap hit of moving Kamara becomes more manageable.”
