A Chicago man is facing attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting that critically injured a woman in West Garfield Park Tuesday, according to Chicago police.
Chenault Williams, 42, is facing felony charges of first-degree attempted murder, aggravated battery through the discharge of a firearm and aggravated domestic battery, according to police. He also faces two misdemeanor charges related to the shooting: aggravated assault through the use of a deadly weapon and theft of less than $500.
Around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a call of shots fired and found a 22-year-old woman who had been shot in the chest in the 4300 block of West West End Avenue, police said. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
The victim told police she had been arguing with the man when he shot her, police said. He had initially fled the scene in a gray sedan. He was arrested Friday about a block away from the scene.
Williams is due in court Saturday.
