He has been out since June 15 with an injury.

MLB.com wrote (on August 7): “Threw 22 pitches (11 strikes) in two-thirds of an inning on Aug. 5 with Triple-A Iowa in his first rehab outing. Averaged 98.7 mph with his fastball, topping out at 99.6 mph. Expected to have multiple rehab appearances.”

According to the site, he is still expected to return this month.

Before getting hurt, Palencia had gone 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 19 games.

There is no question that getting him back in action would give the Cubs a huge boost.
