Chicago Bulls Make Notable Josh Giddey Announcement

During NBA Draft Combine week, the Chicago Bulls made an important announcement regarding their star guard, Josh Giddey.

According to an official statement from the team, the Bulls’ guard Josh Giddey underwent a procedure on his ankle. Fortunately, he’ll have enough time to recover and get back out on the court in time for the start of the 2026-2027 season.

The 2025-2026 NBA season was Giddey’s second year with the organization. The veteran guard appeared in 54 games, even coming off the bench for a few matchups.

Seeing the court for 32.1 minutes per game, the veteran guard was shooting 44.8% from the field and hitting on 36.4% of his threes. Giddey averaged 17.0 points, along with 9.1 assists and 8.3 rebounds per game.

The 2025-2026 season marked the first year of Giddey’s major four-year deal. He signed a $100 million offer last summer. In 2026-2027, Giddey will add another $25 million to his earnings. He is set to be a face of the Bulls through 2029.

Chicago is making some major changes this season. Not only did they trade a handful of key players before February’s deadline, but they also cut ties with key front office members, Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversly.

Although the Bulls wanted to keep Billy Donovan on board, the head coach decided to step down just one season after signing an extension. It’s unclear if the changes will affect Giddey, but for the time being, the star guard will stay focused on recovering from his surgery and looking forward to his third year in Chicago.
