Chance the Rapper raises nearly $140,000 for charity in celebrity “Wheel of Fortune”

Chance the Rapper outplayed a pair of other famous musicians on the TV game show “Wheel of Fortune” on Monday night, securing almost $140,000 for his charity foundation.

The Chicago rapper appeared on the show with rapper Lil Jon and singer Dionne Warwick in a holiday-themed celebrity episode.

The $139,300 will go toward Chance’s nonprofit organization SocialWorks, which aims to empower youth and foster innovation through arts, education and civic engagement, according to a news release.

The money will specifically benefit SocialWorks’ 8th annual Warmest Winter initiative, a donation campaign focused on addressing homelessness and poverty.

Clothing, personal care items and other necessities are accepted in the donation drive, which is happening through Dec. 12 at 25 locations across the Chicago area.

SocialWorks’ new free clothing pantry, SocialThreads, also will be supported by the funds raised in the game show.
