It was another game where the Indiana Fever had a lead but couldn’t close out their opponents, with their game against the Las Vegas Aces going into overtime.
That was caused by Fever guard Caitlin Clark missing two critical free throws late in the fourth quarter with a three-point lead. The Aces hit a three-point shot as time expired to force overtime.
Clark’s night only got more nightmarish from there, as she had a bad turnover with less than 10 seconds left in overtime. Aces guard Chelsea Gray ended up hitting the game-winning shot to beat the Fever 86-84. Nobody was harder on themselves after the game than Clark was.

After the game, Clark was asked in the press conference about the missed free throws late in the fourth quarter. She was honest that the moment didn’t need to happen for her team.
“This can’t happen. Those are free throws I usually make,” Clark said. “I kind of cost my team there for sure. So that’s on me.”
Clark finished with 20 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds in the loss. The key stat that showed the kind of night she had was 8 turnovers during the contest.

The Fever are starting to tumble a bit after two straight losses. They sit at 19-12 and are now in sixth place in the WNBA standings. Indiana is behind the Dallas Wings and Atlanta Dream, as they are all within a half-game of each other.
While there’s no reason to hit the panic button just yet, that loss will hurt the Fever. It was the first time Indiana had lost to the Aces in three meetings this season.
Indiana’s next four games aren’t going to get any easier. The Fever’s next game is on the road against the Chicago Sky. They then face three teams trending to make the playoffs: New York Liberty, Wings, and Dream.
Clark is going to have to shake off the rough performance and get refocused. The goal now is to get her team back on track after two consecutive losses. Picking up a win against the Sky would be a good way to move on from that horrible moment.
