Browns WR Jerry Jeudy Breaks Silence After Absence

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was not on the field Tuesday as the team opened its voluntary veteran minicamp.

His absence was accompanied by a post addressing mental health. Jeudy took to social media Tuesday with a pointed message.

“Mental health is real. Depression is real. Suicide is real. Always check up on the people you love,” Jeudy posted on Instagram.

The Browns are holding their voluntary veteran minicamp from April 21-23 in Berea. Because the workouts are voluntary, players cannot be fined or penalized for missing them. But with the Browns looking to sort out their quarterback situation, Jeudy’s presence as the team’s current No. 1 receiver is valued.

Jerry Jeudy Worked Out With Deshaun Watson in Offseason

Jeudy’s absence is notable given his activity earlier in the offseason. He was among the Browns receivers who worked out with quarterback Deshaun Watson in South Florida before the start of the offseason program.

The session was reported by Daniel Oyefusi and confirmed when Jeudy posted a photo on his Instagram story showing him and Watson before a workout.

Jeudy also showed up for Phase One of the Browns’ offseason program when it kicked off April 7 in Berea, appearing in team-released photos and video from the first day of workouts.

It’s unknown whether Jeudy will be in attendance later this week as the Browns continue to practice. The team got in some work in 7-on-7 and even 11-on-11 situations — invaluable reps as they prepare for a shift in offense under Todd Monken.

Context Around Jeudy’s 2026 Standing

The absence comes after a miserable season for Jeudy, who finished with just 50 catches for 602 yards and two touchdowns on 106 targets — a steep drop from the career-high 1,229 receiving yards he posted in 2024.

The Browns cycled through three starting quarterbacks in Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, and Jeudy never found consistent chemistry with any of them. The disconnect with Sanders boiled over publicly during a 26-8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in December, when the two were caught in a heated exchange on the bench.

The Browns hold picks No. 6 and No. 24 in the NFL Draft, which begins Thursday. General manager Andrew Berry has said the team plans to add offensive weapons.

“We’re really pleased with some of the younger players we have,” Berry said. “Jerry is gonna be a big part of it, and we’re pleased with Isaiah [Bond’s] rookie year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t add to the arsenal.”

It’s more than likely the Browns will have at least one new pass catcher when the draft is over. The Browns have been linked to many of the top receivers in the draft, including Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson and USC’s Makai Lemon. The Browns have also been linked to Indiana’s Omar Cooper Jr. and Texas A&M’s KC Concepcion.

Cleveland has nowhere to go but up on the offensive side of the ball. Cleveland ranked near the bottom of the league in nearly every category, putting up 16.4 points and 281.8 yards per game.
