A 17-year-old boy died twelve days after he was wounded in a drive-by shooting in the North Lawndale on the West Side.
On Oct. 21, Jaquan Love and a 23-year-old man were standing on the sidewalk in the 3500 block of West Douglas Boulevard when a dark car drove by and someone from inside opened fire around 9:50 p.m., Chicago police said.
Love was struck in the abdomen and he was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:26 a.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy Sunday determined Love, of the same block on Douglas Boulevard, died of complications from being shot in the torso and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The man, 23, was shot in the back and was also taken to Mount Sinai in serious condition, police said.
No arrests were made and Area 4 detectives are investigating.
