Boy, 15, accused of killing girl, 16, in West Side park

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the fatal assault of 16-year-old Kaylah Aleah Love whose body was found one week ago in Horan Park on the city’s West Side.

The boy, who is not being named because he is a minor, was scheduled for a hearing at Juvenile Court later Monday.

The Manley High School junior was found near a playground in Horan Park, 3035 W. Van Buren St., at 4:50 p.m. Monday.

Love was dead on the scene with multiple injuries from the assault, and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

According to a social media post from LegalHelpFirm, her Manley classmates and school staff are taking the murder personally and described Kaylah as “quiet, smart and always smiling.”
