Premier League squad Bournemouth will be without Alex Jimenez for Saturday’s soccer match.
The young defender has come under fire recently, when posts surfaced on social media. The Guardian reports that these posts reveal “alleged exchanges between Jimenez and an individual who appears to state that they are a 15-year-old girl.”
Jimenez just turned 21 today, May 8th, 2026.
Here is the latest information regarding Jimenez and these allegations. Included are the statement released by Bournemouth and what will happen next with Jimenez as the team prepares for another Premier League match this weekend.
Bournemouth Release Statement on Alex Jimenez
AFC Bournemouth released the following statement regarding Jimenez.
“AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back, Álex Jiménez,” the statement begins. “The club understands the seriousness of the matter and it is currently being investigated.”
“As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Fulham, and the club will be making no further comment at this time.”
Having Jimenez step back while launching an investigation is a wise approach to the situation. Every player is important to an organization; however, this is the right way to approach a sensitive issue of this nature.
Bournemouth Plays Fulham This Weekend
On Saturday, Bournemouth locks horns with Fulham. This is the first of three fixtures remaining for Bournemouth in May. While Bournemouth can’t compete for the Premier League title, they can still qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
A lot of that hope is riding on Saturday’s upcoming fixture.
Heading into the match, Bournemouth sits sixth on the points table with Fulham sitting 11th. Looking at the recent form of both clubs, Bournemouth has a clear edge.
Bournemouth is unbeaten in its last five matches. A draw, win, win, draw, win, is how the last five fixtures have played out for them. Alternatively, Fulham’s last five results are a win, a loss, a draw, a win, and a loss.
However, Google believes both teams have a good chance of winning the match. Google gives Bournemouth a 39 percent chance of winning, with Fulham at 35 percent. There is a 26 percent chance of a draw.
What Happens Next With Alex Jimenez?
At the moment, Jimenez needs to wait out these investigations to see what will happen. As part of their pre-match press conferences, Bournemouth’s head coach spoke about the situation with Jimenez.
“The club has to do their investigations and see what has really happened,” Andoni Iraola said via The Guardian. “We will then move from there. I hope it’s not what we think.”
At the point of this writing, everything is just speculation. However, a social media post making the rounds reveals some of the alleged messages between Jimenez and this minor.
In 31 appearances this year, Jimenez has one goal. Additionally, he has five shots on target inside the box and seven shots on target outside of the box. On defense, he has 69 tackles, 27 interceptions, and 11 blocks.
This will be one storyline to follow as Bournemouthe continues through their May fixtures.
